The idea : The idea for the site came after many nights of trying to fall asleep with a racing brain. Like a little kid I kept asking my self, why? why? why? I couldn’t believe how many things we still don’t know. Some times it feels like we know everything. We have cars, computers, and airplanes. The only things we don’t have is what we don’t know we could have. The Purpose: The purpose of this site is to develop a database of questions that may never be answered. Because there is no right or wrong answer to any of these types of questions I thought it would be handy to have a place for anyone to express their feelings on the subject. The site is called Provoke Your Mind simply because that is the intent. Just reading a question featured on this site could get you thinking for days. How it works: Anyone on the earth, or in space if they have internet, can submit a suggestion for a question to be discussed. That question is then entered in the pending database where it can be viewed and visitors can vote for it to be moved onto the main site at which point the topic becomes open for discussion. You are only allowed to submit one question per day as to try and minimize the amount of fluff that comes through. You do not need to register to submit a question, but you will need to register if you wish to discuss a question. The whole idea behind the submission process is to allow anyone to have their question seen. Types of questions: The type of questions that will be successful on this site are those that make a reader sit back and think "hmm". Simply put, if your question has a known answer, its not going to be featured, even if it has a million votes. As the slogan says, if there is an answer, it’s a bad question. Rules & Regulations: For starters you must register with the site if you would like to discuss the topics. Registration is free and takes a few short seconds. If you do not wish to register you can still post a question to be considered but you will not have the privilege of discussing it if it is approved. I will go through the topics and delete posts that are out of place and also ban the IP addresses of those who have posted "crap" in the discussions. This simply means that anyone trying to insert spam into a topic or insulting another's belief will be banned. The Voting System: The questions pending entry on the main site can be voted for by every visitor once. You cannot submit a question and then vote over and over and waste your time. I won’t let you. Ultimately the decision is up to me whether to move the question to the discussion board. If i feel a question is terrible even though it has a million and 1 votes I will not put it live. However it is more likely than not that if 1 million people think a question is good I will think so as well. If a question has been sitting in the queue for months and has very few votes, less than 1 per day, it will be moved into the reject database. It will not be deleted and may eventually be recycled into the pending queue if I feel it deserves a second try. |
